Remove duplicates without sorting / bookmark duplicates?

Post by crtrubshaw »

Hi, is this possible, or is there some way to perhaps bookmark duplicated lines?

Did you try Edit > More line operations > Delete duplicate lines?

That's exactly what I need for this scenario, thanks pjj! :-D

If I understand, I think this will keep the first occurrence and delete any others, but I can think of times where I might be looking for duplicates but will be more specific which one(s) I need to delete based on context, so I'll raise a feature request for "bookmark duplicate lines".

You are very welcome :)

Perhaps highlighting duplicated lines would be a better option than setting bookmarks? Or as an alternative? Just an idea.

I think I'd rather have them bookmarked, that way I can jump to them, and once done I can use associated bookmark functions, like clear all or delete all bookmarked lines (once I clear the bookmarks for the lines I want to keep).

Edit: as an alternative will be good, the more features TextEd has for different users, makes it better in my opinion.

Cheers 8)
