I have no idea why you're getting this error message and there may not be much I can do about it.

I've updated the SFTP component in v12.41, but I'm not at all sure that will help...

I think I might be able to help. This appears to be an old, or different, error UI to what I see, but essentially it seems that any FTP error produces the same type of error dialog that I got when more significant application errors appeared. This may be confusing for some users, or may not. Here's an example:

Image

If a user merely does something as simple as enter an invalid folder, such as:

/var/loca

... instead of:

/var/local/

... what looks like an application error, not a remote server error, will appear.

This is not so much a criticism of RJTE's error handling as just a comment on how such errors may be confusing to some users.

In this specific case, there probably isn't enough context to enable debugging. It's possible the file is readonly or owned by someone else, and yet a specific error like "Unsupported operation: readonly" or "Unsupported operation: permission denied" simply wasn't returned because the FTP server was not written with helpful, friendly error messages.

Thanks.

Most (S)FTP errors should probably only result in a message box letting the user know an operation failed.
I've added some error handling code when doing (S)FTP operations so the error isn't handled by the global exception and trace stack function. Hopefully this makes it less confusing.

Unfortunately, in version 12.41 the problem persists.
