SOLVED: Locking Tab-Files for Modification

Post by rjbill »

It would be nice if we could LOCK Tab-Files from being modified by
right-clicking the tab and choosing Lock/Unlock.

Maybe the tabs could have one of those little red circles with a slash
through it icon or some other way to know that the tab has been locked.
I know you are using double-asterisks now to show a file not being loaded,
so some other character for locking would work, and/or colorization.
(if putting an icon in the tab bar is not easy)

I don't think I would want the state to be remembered, although
I would probably like that with some files.

So if there could be a remembered PERMANENT or TEMPORARY lock status
that might be nice. (PermLock, PermUnlock, TempLock, TempUnlock)

It would be nice to have an audible tone when you try to modify a locked file.
(changeable / settable to some .WAV file we would like to use, would be nice)

The way I would use this is that I often have files open for reference
that have similar names (like index.php), and I sometimes end up
modifying the reference file instead of the one I'm working on.

I think you can do this already. Right click on the document tab and select "Read-Only". You can save the "read-only" status by setting "Save read-only status" in options.

Does that change the File System Read Only status of the file?

Or is it internal to RJTE?

I doesn't change the read-only status of the file.
