RJ TextEd

RJT tries to connect to internet on every start. I have update checks disabled in settings.

I haven't been able to reproduce this. Would you mind open the update dialog and confirm that all options are unchecked? (Help -> Check for updates)

Thanks! After selecting Help -> Check for updates, I found the following:

'Check for major updates at startup' and 'Check for new beta versions at startup' were unchecked.
However. 'Check for minor updates at startup' was checked and greyed out.
In options dialog, there is no setting for minor updates, whether major updates is checked or not.
So, in the 'Help -> Check for updates' dialog, I was able to check mark major updates, uncheck mark minor updates, then uncheck mark major updates again.
Also, before going through the above process under 'Help -> Check for updates', there was no setting in the INI file for minor updates. Now it is there and set to '0'.
