Encoding and "New Line Format" configurable by file extension

Post by dustwalker »

Hi

My defaults for Encoding and "New Line Format" are UTF-8 without BOM and LF. That means that new .bat or .cmd batch files have the wrong new line format, leading to `goto` occasional errors.

Also, when I open a batch file with extended ASCII characters, those 1-byte characters become different ones, because they are assumed to be UTF-8. "File/Reopen with encoding ANSI" solves the issue, when I see it. I could try to write a "RJ TextED" script that applies "File/Reopen with encoding ANSI" to every batch file. However, to open every batch file twice when most of them are pure ASCII seems a bit clunky.

Thanks for a great program
